Art Carr Turbo 400 Spline Drive Installation Instructions

When installing the Spine Drive make sure there is a pilot bushing in the crank ( part # QTR-110011). Install the dampner plate on the flywheel using a Chevy Pressure Plate Bolt Kit (part # ARP-130-2201), and use the spline drive to center the plate, then tighten the plate to the flywheel. Install the spline drive into the transmission, Turn until it is seated in the transmission pump. When the transmission is bolted up, check the clearance at the wedding band. There should be .100 to .125 clearance. You should be able to move the wedding band freely. Too much clearance, add additional wedding bands. Too little clearance, machine your wedding band down to size. Always use transmission Dowel Pins (part # ALL-38150) to center the case to the block. Never pull the transmission case against the block using the bolts or you may crack the case.
